Taking things slow

i CAN’T BLAME MYSELF WHEN THINGS GO SLOWER THAN I’D PLANNED, AND YET SOMETIMES IT FEELS HARD NOT TO. tO THIS DAY, between life and MY HUSBAND i have gained the BEST SET OF TOOLS I WANNA SHARE JUST IN CASE IT MIGHT HELP SOMEONE OUT THERE. (I SAY INTO THE VOID)

NUMBER ONE : baby steps
I understand how corny this sounds, but even if i have a full step by step plan i pile too much onto my shoulders day to day until i’ve completely f**ked myself over. being such an easy thing to remember, baby steps has become one of my most importaint grounding tools. i know we all don’t have my husband to remind them to slow down and even just one thing a day makes a diffrence, but i’m here to remind you that you need to slow down.

try for one thing a day, if your to busy for that, one thing a week, or if you’re so fecking busy that even that just isn’t possible, i know you can defiently do one thing a month.

Number two : tools
i mean the physical kind. Look, i know if you paint, your gonna need paint and a brush. but in my experience, you don’t. An artist isn’t definded by their tools. of course tools can make things go smoother, easier. but i’ve gotten caught in the trap of the train of thought … if i had ______ , THEN I COuld do it. which is actually shite, btw. if you really wanted to do something, you would just do it. It hasn’t failed me yet, even when i would of sworn to you up and down, that i needed a tool to be creative. but after i get said tool i’m embarrased to admit i continue to lack creativity.
I supose that’s all i’m trying to say, the only tool you need to be creative is creativity.

nUMBER THREE : NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER COMPARe YOUR ART TO OTHERS.
THERE’S A HEALTHY WAY TO LOOK AT YOUR ART, THEN LOOK AT ANOTHER AND NOTICE HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY DRAW HANDS, OR HAIR, OR EYES IDK WHATEVER CATCHES YOUr attention. YOU’LL FEEL IT IN YOUR GUT, WHEN YOUR DOING THIS WRONG, YOU WILL FEEL YOURSELF DROPPING TO THE FLOOR AND become USELESS.
congrats, you’ve shat on your ego.
though it’s hard to admit, no one will ever make you feel worse about your art than yourself. and while i believe we should strive to improve ourselves every chance we get, looking at someone and feeling infirior isn’t gonna help. now, looking at someones art and being inspired, thaat’s the good stuff <3

last, but not least,

number four : RESISTANCE
there’s a wonderful little book my husband happened to stumble onto, it was an unwanted book that the library was giving away. and this little book gives me a fighting spirit i never had when it came to my creativity. the war of art is one of the most importaint books i’m probably gonna recomend if i keep this blogging stuff up. if your a creative, you need this book. Don’t worry, it’s a really short read, it doesn’t need to linger to make an impact, plus, i’ve not even finished it. it’s perfect for busy creatives like yourself. my favourite qoute from it probably sums it all up perfectly.

“IT WAS EASIER FOR HITLER TO START WORLD WAR 2 THAN BE AN ARTIST.
